Mass Book Donation by UC-CSR Project H.E.L.E.N.

The Mass Book Donation Program of the University's Center for Social Responsibility - Project H.E.L.E.N. is now on its 12th, 13th and 14th Wave. We would like to thank you for volunteering during the unloading and sorting of the 9th Wave on March 12-15, 2014. This week we are expecting three (3) more container vans which will be distributed to beneficiaries in Pangasinan, llocos Norte and Ifugao.

In line with this, we are in need of more or less 300 hundred volunteers who are healthy and able to carry ten books at a time, sort and label over 100,000 books on March 18-20, at 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m. and 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. Unloading will be done at the BRS Building.

Your commitment to bring in at least 20 volunteers from your college or office for each of the times and dates provided is highly appreciated. With your help, we will be able to change the lives of almost 100,000 children and families with the hope of bringing resource assistance for the improvement of the quality of education in this country.

Your volunteerism counts as we continue to give back to the community. Thank you for your usual cooperation.

Project H.E.L.E.N. FASHIONability is a competition for UC students to challenge their creativity in incorporating nature-themed fashion collection. Spearheaded by the UC Mass Com Society, in cooperation with the UC Community Extension and Services Office, the competition aims to cultivate environmental awareness in fashion designing and styling, and more particularly to campaign for the benefit of UC's adopted school, the Spring Hills Elementary School in Loakan, Baguio City, for the realization of building their own school stage.

As part of the "Green Is In! 2010" University Month celebrations, we are bringing together once again the brightest and most talented high school students of Baguio and Benguet, as they battle their way to the top spots of friendly competitions: Quiz Bee, happening on Nov 27, 2010 at 9:00am; and the Dance Competitions in two categories, Couple Showdance & Modern Dance, happening on the same day at 2:00pm. Prizes awaits the winners.

In commemoration of the University's Founding Mother, Helen Salvosa's 100th birthday celebration, the UC community will be planting 100 seedlings in an adopted reservation area at Camp 8, Baguio City.

A launching of the Adopt-A-Scholar Program of UC's Project HELEN will be held on July 10, 2010 at the UC Covered Court. The program in intended to help 100 under-privileged students from local barangays and schools in Benguet and Baguio City through an "adoption" system, in commemoration of our Founder, Evangelina Salvosa's 100th Birth Anniversary. The event will feature presentations of the children and also some fun and games for everybody. Program starts at 9:00 a.m.
