CHED renews UC's "Autonomous Status"
The University of the Cordilleras has been granted Autonomous Status by the Commission on Higher Education, as per CHED CMO No. 12, series of 2019 released this October. UC is among only 68 private higher education institutions in the country, and among the three universities in Baguio City, to be granted this status.
Autonomous Status is granted by CHED to select institutions that passed and complied with the commission's stringent review and accreditation process. An autonomous university may freely design their own curricula, offer new programs, establish branches or satellite campuses, confer honorary degrees, and carry out operations without having to secure permits and without much interference from CHED.
UC has been granted Autonomous Status since 2010.
