Master in Information Technology

Program Overview

The Master in Information Technology (MIT) program of the University of the Cordilleras intends to provide instructions to enable students for industrial practice of systems planning, development, integration, implementation and administration. To accomplish this goal, the MIT program equip its students with appropriate knowledge and skills on IT concepts and use of technologies.

The MIT curriculum has a total of 39 units, broken down into 33 academic units, and 6 units capstone project. Further, MIT students are required to present a research paper in a national or international conference with proceedings indexed by Scopus/ISI; or published in a Scopus/ISI-indexed journal.

PSM Track

The Professional Science Master’s (PSM) degree is the fastest growing section of science graduate education in the United States. PSM is designed to fully collaborate with appropriate industry and government stakeholders to produce professionals with relevant skills and knowledge in the areas of science, technology, engineering, agriculture and mathematics (STEAM). Further, these professionals should also demonstrate business, management and communication expertise to be valuable employees, who are ready to take leadership responsibilities or become entrepreneurs.

PSM combines STEAM and business courses with capstone project and internship. These courses are aimed to prepare students to take technical and business professions.

The Professional Science Master’s Track of the Master in Information Technology (MIT PSM Track) is designed in collaboration with RTI International under the Science, Technology, Research and Innovation for Development (STRIDE) program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and Texas Instruments Philippines, Inc. to provide instruction for graduate students to acquire multidisciplinary knowledge and skills in the areas of information technology, business, management, and communication. Students enrolled in the MIT PSM Track are expected to become technical IT professionals possessing business expertise.

The MIT PSM Track investigates the knowledge and skills needed to propose, plan, design, develop, acquire, deploy and maintain appropriate IT solutions to requirements of organizations and the society. Industry requirements to effectively organize and manage resources, business processes, policies, standards and people of organizations are similarly emphasized in the track. Further, industry standards and best practices in IT, business, management, and communication are applied in the courses of the MIT PSM Track. The track concludes with the graduate students engaged in organizations or the society, working to help address difficulties by delivering IT and business solutions.

Admission Qualifications

  1. Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS), Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT), Bachelor of Science in Information Systems (BSIS) or any ICT allied degree programs.
  2. Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language.
  3. Knowledge on the remedial courses, otherwise the applicant must take the remedial courses deemed necessary by the Dean.
